The service allows a smooth migration from the obsolete S5 control system to the equivalent S7 technology platform. All SIMATIC S5 products were discontinued by Siemens in October 2006, and since then the manufacture of S5 components has also ceased, making spare parts difficult to obtain and upgrades increasingly important. The Siemens S7 range offers a number of benefits including improvements in functionality, production performance and quality.
