ITS Appoints New UK Business Development Manager
27th August 2008
Industrial Technology Systems Ltd (ITS) has appointed Alwyn Jones as its new UK Business Development Manager, taking responsibility for driving company revenue and managing the sales team.
Alwyn joins us from Micro-Epsilon and has an impressive pedigree within a sales environment. He is excited by the prospect of working with ITS, a company he was previously closely associated with for more than three years when working for Cognex.
“I am delighted to get such a wonderful opportunity,” he said. “When the possibility of working for ITS came up I jumped at the chance. Having worked with them before, I know the calibre of people who work here and the high standards the company sets and achieves.
“ITS is a company with an excellent reputation and I am proud to now be working for them. I welcome the opportunity for new challenges and the chance to use the skills and knowledge that I have, to build on the company’s successes.”
Alwyn will be based at ITS’ North West office in Birchwood Park, Warrington, but will divide his time between there and the company’s North East Headquarters in Middlesbrough.
His first weeks are being spent undertaking a thorough familiarisation of the company’s business, as well as visiting customers’ sites. He will be working alongside ITS’ business development managers Sarah Green and Ewan Jones, and shadowing Tony Togneri, who leaves the company for a new post in October.
“It’s all going very well and everyone’s been great,” he said. “It’s been an advantage already knowing so many of the team.”
Alwyn showed an early talent for technology whilst still at school, writing his own computer games and developing a fascination for gadgetry. After achieving a BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Wales he worked in production engineering, eventually moving into sales at his father’s suggestion.
“My dad was Rentokil’s top salesman year after year, and he found sales very fulfilling; he recommended it to me. My first job in sales was in 1997 and I’ve never looked back.”
Home for Alwyn is in Wales, with his wife Anna and their 14-month-old son Efan.
