Industrial Technology Systems Ltd’s (ITS) trainer Alan Benbow was a guest speaker at MidMed Training Network’s 2008/09 programme launch, giving a presentation on GAMP® 5 and 21 CFR Part 11.
The event at the Athlone Springs Hotel, was well attended by representatives from MidMed’s 44 member companies, spanning the healthcare, medical and pharmaceutical sectors.
The invitation to ITS’ trainer Alan, who has extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance training from 22 years’ industry experience working with Johnson & Johnson and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, is an endorsement of the high regard with which he is held within the industry. Earlier this year he responded swiftly to ISPE’s publication of the new GAMP 5® Guide, by designing three new courses addressing the revisions, and these are already being delivered to on-site and open course delegates across the UK.
MidMed is a non-profit organisation, based in Castlebar, County Mayo, and run by a voluntary Advisory Group from industry. It launched in 2006 and aims to ensure that the workforce in the pharmaceutical, medical diagnostic, medical device, chemical, biotechnology and supporting industries is appropriately skilled and equipped, whilst remaining competitive, meeting regulatory demands and withstanding increasing economic pressures.
The Network provides specialised technical training which is difficult to source in the region, by developing the basic scientific and laboratory skills of staff from entry point to Ph.D level, as well as providing valuable networking opportunities and informal events. It is anticipated that the Network will draw on co-members’ expertise as technology advances.
MidMed is funded by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment from the National Training Fund. It is supported by Skillnets, an enterprise-led body which focuses on the needs of small and micro-enterprises and believes that a key to sustaining Ireland’s competitiveness, is promoting and providing training and professional development opportunities. Since 1999, over 10,000 Irish enterprises in over 150 training networks have been helped, working with over 50,000 employees to improve their employability and thereby the quality of the country’s output.
