Course Aims:	To improve individual communication skills.
Course Content:	Recognise the importance of listening as a key fundamental skill in understanding Investigate how misunderstanding can have a detrimental effect Recall how non-verbal behaviour can influence communication Signals we use everyday in our work based roles which can help decode ‘real’ messages Identify and handle conflict when it arises during communication Modes of behaviour Conflict between shift operations Detrimental effect of aggressive behaviour Practice developing rapport with others The beneficial consequences of positive behaviours Work with a course colleague on building rapport Investigate work based modes of communication and how they can be used to improve performance ‘Grapevine’ meetings, team briefings, corridor meetings, one-to-one relationships and electronic methods Reflect, develop and agree an action plan for self improvement after the course Establish own personal areas for workplace improvements
