Course Aims: The course aims to provide engineers and technicians with the knowledge and skills to enable them to diagnose, fault-find and maintain Siemens S7 PLCs, in a safe and competent manner.

  • Siemens S7 system addressing 
  • Data format and blocks 
  • Introduction to blocks; OBs; FBs; FCs; SFCs; SFBs 
  • Introduction to programming formats; LAD; STL; FDB 
  • Project structure 
  • Hardware configuration 
  • Communicating with the PLC 
  • Downloading and uploading PLC programs 
  • Online monitoring PLC programs 
  • Programming using LAD; STL; FDB 
  • Siemens S7 basic instruction set; Relay; compare ; maths; data moves 
  • Instruction set - Relay, maths, move, compare and logic functions 
  • Using and creating program documentation 
  • Copying and backing up folders 
  • Symbolic notation 
  • Diagnostic information and module information used for fault finding 
  • Data monitoring and modifying variables 
  • Forcing facilities 
  • Archiving and retrieving projects
