Course Title: SOPs and Training the Trainer
Course Delivery: The SOPs and Training the Trainer Course can be delivered in a hotel, one of our offices, or your premises. The course content can be tailored to meet your requirements.
Course Duration: 3 days
Course Overview:

The first day of this 3-day programme is the Writing SOPs Training course, which provides the opportunity to learn effectively, how to dissect a task down into a logical structure and sequence, write the SOP and test it in use before approval.

Day 2 and 3 of this programme, is the Train the Trainer course which provides the learners with the practical skills and knowledge to provide one-to-one training based on an SOP or related task.

Learners will be expected to deliver a one-to-one training session and be assessed by the trainer. Feedback will be given to encourage the learner to gain more competence and confidence in their future training events.

Course Content:

Day 1

  • Understand the need for SOPs
    • Why have and use procedures?
    • Understand what key features constitute an SOP
    • Why some SOPs are difficult to understand, use and are not readily accepted by the users
    • What makes an effective SOP?
  • Defining where SOPs fit within a Quality System
    • How SOPs fit in with other documentation
    • How to control and manage SOPs
  • Create a simple process flowchart
    • Break down a task into logical steps
    • Create a flowchart from the logical steps
    • Provide a flowchart as the first part of an SOP
  • Create a simple SOP
    • Use the flowchart to create a simple SOP
    • Review the SOP for potential improvements
  • Training and SOPs
    • The importance of training to SOPs
    • Different training documents to use

Day 2

  • Identify how learning styles can affect learning
  • Recall the key areas of one-to-one training through self assessment, questioning and interactive group work
  • Consider and address items that can affect learning
  • Write an instruction and training plan for training delivery

Day 3

  • Employ a range of questioning techniques to assess learners under instruction
  • Understand the importance of listening skills during the training process
  • Deliver a training session using a generated instruction plan and a training task breakdown plan
  • Assess learner under instruction through observation and questioning

During his 14 years at Wyeth, Alan was involved in a wide range of activities including, at operational levels, developing operators, craftsmen, and technicians; he was also responsible for training and assessing operational employees to NVQ standards.
