National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are work-related, competence-based qualifications that reflect whether an employee has the skills and knowledge to fulfil their job effectively.
They are based on National Occupational Standards for Learning and Development, a ready-made, nationally agreed set of competencies describing a range of tasks which those in particular occupations are expected to competently perform.
Increasing numbers of organisations now find it convenient and cost-effective to run the qualifications in-house, by becoming approved by an appropriate awarding body. However they require sufficient qualified assessors from within the company, to support and assess the work of those working towards their NVQ, and finding a suitable provider who can train staff and complete the qualification process can be a challenge.
Industrial Technology Systems Ltd's (ITS) onsite NVQ Assessor Training course covers unit A1 of the Learning and Development NVQ: Assess Candidates Using a Range of Methods, which is the relevant qualification for the majority of on-the-job assessors.
The course provides the first stage for the assessor candidates to build their basic skills and knowledge, and ITS can also help with the next stages, by qualifying the assessors through work-placed assessment.
