NVQ & BTEC Qualifications
ITS has worked with manufacturing companies in a number of regulated industries, helping them to train and qualify their work-based trainers/assessors to the following NVQ Learning and Development Level 3 Awards:
- L12 Enable individual learning through coaching
- A1 Assess candidates using a range of methods
Other NVQ units can be used by organisations for their work-based trainers which is dependent upon companies' own requirements. Please visit NVQ Level 3 Learning and Development Structure for further details.
The benefits of qualifying trainers/others to NVQ/BTEC units and certificates include:
- qualification in a real workplace environment, carrying out real activities
- qualified to a national standard
- consistent and structured training and learning

- potential improvement to efficiency and motivation, and potential reduction in re-work, waste etc
BTEC Qualifications
ITS can provide, through links with a college, a number of BTEC Learning and Development Awards, such as Advanced Certificates. Each of these awards is made up of a number of NVQ units.
Listed below are a number of certificates which ITS can help individuals and organisations to achieve:
- BTEC Advanced Award in Review of Assessment and Learning
- BTEC Advanced Award in Coaching Learners in the Workplace
- BTEC Advanced Award in Skills Training
- BTEC Advanced Award in Training and Presenting
ITS is currently training and assessing four work-based trainers for a regulated manufacturing organisation to meet the BTEC Advanced Certificate in Skills Training.
The process of qualification can follow:
1) A company identifies a suitable qualification for their work based trainer(s) and contact ITS.
2) A review is made of the trainer's role against the NVQ/BTEC units by the company.
3) ITS scopes qualification/units against trainer's role to identify training and assessment requirements. A discussion between ITS' Assessor and the college takes place covering requirements, plans, assessments, internal verification and potential certification.
4) A cost is provided to the company for assessment, any training requirements, including visits to the company.
5) If the qualification process is acceptable, ITS registers the candidates with the college and the awarding body.
6) A number of assessment visits entail over a period of time to be agreed, where the ITS assessor assesses the candidates in the workplace. The ITS assessor signs off relative units as they are completed.
7) When all the units are complete and the trainer's folders of evidence have been assessed, ITS submits the completed work to the college.
8) The college then verifies and independently assesses the trainers and the ITS assessor’s work. The college then applies and presents certification to the company’s trainer(s) through ITS.
