Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs) are a fundamental pre-requisite part of any quality management system in healthcare research and development, manufacturing, veterinary medicines and NHS facilities including blood banks and the National Blood Service.
Strict procedures must be consistently followed by operational and other staff to ensure products and treatments are always fit for purpose and public health is always protected.
SOPs are consistently listed in EU GMP guidelines, FDA and other countries’ regulations, yet organisations frequently neglect their importance, development, use and management, thereby putting their products, business and public health at risk.
