Vial Fill Level and Cap Inspection

Vial Fill Level and Cap Inspection

Vision inspection systems can ensure the correct amount of fluid is in a vial, and check that the vial cap is correctly fitted.

A Cognex In-Sight sensor with a backlight inspects the fluid amount, and a number of In-Sight sensors are used to check the cap fit.  The cap failure mode is where it is ‘cocked’ (leaning to one side).  Multiple vision sensors can be used to view the cap from different angles for a more robust inspection.

Problems that can be detected:

  • Under filled vial
  • Over filled vial
  • Incorrectly fitted vial cap

The features of the system are:

  • Robust industrial Cognex In-Sight vision sensor
  • Simple and fast edge and measurement tools to inspect at higher throughput rates
