Industrial Technology Systems (ITS) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Control System Integration package for SUEZ's new £35 million Anaerobic Digestion (AD) facility at Ellington Road, Northumberland.
The new facility is a significant investment in the North East's waste and renewable energy infrastructure. Once operational, it is expected to process up to 50,000 tonnes of food waste each year, producing renewable gas capable of supplying the equivalent of around 5,500 homes, alongside a recycled fertiliser product.
The project forms part of SUEZ's continued investment in the circular economy and the development of infrastructure required to support the UK's transition towards Net Zero. The facility will help put food waste to productive use by converting it into renewable energy and recovering nutrients for use as fertiliser.
Finley Reah, Business Development Manager at Industrial Technology Systems, said:
"We are proud to be contributing our sector expertise to this significant regional development. Our established relationship with SUEZ provides a strong foundation for collaboration and we look forward to delivering a successful project that will benefit both the site and the North East region.”
ITS will design and deliver the control system solution for the facility, working alongside SUEZ and the wider project delivery team to deliver the automation and systems integration required to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the plant.
The contract represents an important milestone in ITS' continued growth within the Energy and Renewables sector. With its Head Office based in the North East, ITS is delighted to be supporting a major investment in the region and contributing to the development of local Net Zero and sustainable infrastructure.
The project also builds on ITS' existing and strong relationship with SUEZ and its experience delivering automation, control and systems integration solutions across the waste, energy and industrial sectors.
Andrew Stephens, Sales and Marketing Director at Industrial Technology Systems, said:
"We are delighted to have been awarded the Control System Integration package for SUEZ's new Ellington facility. This is an exciting project for ITS and one that aligns closely with our continued growth strategy within the Energy and Renewables sector. As a North East-based business, it is particularly important to us that we are able to contribute to major developments taking place in our region. The transition towards Net Zero is creating significant opportunities across the North East, and we are proud to be playing a part in delivering the sustainable infrastructure needed to support that transition.”
ITS will draw on its experience in delivering complex automation and control solutions to support the successful operation of the facility, while continuing to play a role in advancing sustainable energy and resource recovery infrastructure across the North East and UK
